可憐な野生のスイセンが太平洋に面した急斜面一体に咲き乱れます。海からの風を受けて、黄色の花たちが一斉にそよぐ姿は圧巻です。1月~2月にだけみられる、淡路島の冬の風物詩です。
赤穂御崎は、海岸線に奇岩や節理等の崖と磯が続く変化に富む岬で、沖には家島諸島や小豆島を望める景勝地となっています。この海岸線と瀬戸内海の島々を見渡すように沈んでいく夕日が絶景で人気です。
500年以上の伝統を持つ淡路の伝統芸能、淡路人形浄瑠璃を毎日上演する常設館。3人で1つの人形を操る技術は長年のトレーニングの賜物。淡路特有の文化や歴史にふれることができます。
SPring-8とは、直径約450m、1周約1,500mのナノテクノロジーやバイオテクノロジー等の研究に利用できる世界最高性能の放射光を生み出す大型施設です。展示室の自由見学のほか、見学ツアーも行っています。
1609年徳川家康の命により築かれた篠山城跡と、篠山城築城後商業の中心として栄えた昔の町並みが残る河原町妻入商家群では昔の雰囲気を感じることができます。
4月下旬~5月中旬頃が旬の花「藤」が白毫寺で花を咲かせ、シャワーのように垂れ下がり幻想的な風景を作り出します。秋の紅葉時期にも美しい風景を楽しむことができます。
花と緑をモチーフに、温室・花壇・庭園などで構成された夢いっぱいの施設。展望レストラン、野外劇場、リゾートホテルなども併設され、快適性もエンターテイメント性も申し分なしです。建築家安藤忠雄の建築にも注目。
神戸の灘五郷
This actual-sized monument (18 meters tall) is based on the popular Japanese manga/anime "Tetsujin 28-go" and is a popular photo spot with young people. Nearby find the "Three Kingdoms Garden" an exhibition hall based on the Chinese legend, Three Kingdoms.
This flower-focused event is held in the Chuo ward of Kobe, including Sannomiya Higashi, Motomachi Anamon, Nishi Motomachi, Kitanozaka venues. Infiorata is an Italian word that means "blanket with flowers". Farmers in places like Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, provide flower petals that have been picked in order to grow bulbs, and the unneeded petals are recycled in order to create beautiful flower pictures.
The magnificence of the world's longest suspension bridge, the Akashi Kaikyo Ohashi. The length of the space between the pillars on the Akashi Kaikyo Ohashi is the longest in the world. There are many places to view the elegance of the bridge's shape, and at night when it is lit-up, but the best place to truly experience the size of the bridge and the fusion of nature and the massive man-made architectural structure, is the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Park directly adjacent to the bridge. It also has historical appeal, and is an ideal addition to a new one hundred Kansai views. (There is also a tour where visitors can experience a 360 degree panoramic view from the top of the bridge's pillar at Bridge World from April to November (every week from Thursday to Sunday, and on Holidays))
This beautiful beach with white sand and green pines, is a recreation zone loved by many, and as it is the closest swimming beach to the Osaka-Kobe area it is busy with tourists and beach huts every summer. It also holds many events such as the beach volleyball tournament, and it is popular with the younger generation as well as families. Surf music giants The Beach Boys even wrote a song about this beach, called Sumahama.
This Bon Odori Festival, one of the largest in the Kansai area, is a stage for the live performance of Japan's many traditional folk songs, and it is held at a spot that features Kobe's famous night view. The Bon Odori contest pits teams against each other for teamwork and skill, and there are also many shop stalls with an international flavor. People participate from around the world, and visitors are welcomed into the dance circle, heating up the night at Meriken Park, and coloring it with many brilliant hues. Bring your friends and family along to this event!
Castle in the Sky Takeda Castle Ruins (Wadayama, Asago City, hyogo Prefecture)

Takeda Castle Ruins, the Castle in the Sky of hyogo Prefecture's Asago City is known as the Machu Picchu of Japan. This photo of the castle ruins was taken from the castle ruins atop the mountain path. The view from the castle ruins is so different from most Japanese scenery that it will make the viewer think, "Is this really Japan?" The vast view is truly breathtaking. It is a place worth a visit.
Chikusa has been a producer of a kind of washi paper called Harimagami since the Nara period. Currently, there is just one shop in the town that continues to make washi paper today, but the high quality paper can only be made in this place with its well-preserved natural surroundings. The shop continues to maintain tradition, passing down skills through the ages.
This spring, the first theme park in West Japan to feature the anime hero loved by Japanese children, Anpanman, opened in Kobe. Children can play on the colorful playground equipment, and eat special limited edition bread and snacks shaped like the anime characters at the food court. There are plenty of Anpanman-themed souvenirs available, and it's a spot the whole family can enjoy. The facility is located near Kobe's bay area, and there are also other shopping malls nearby.
Cycle around Awaji Island. In recent years, cycling has become very popular, and more people than ever are enjoying cycling on Awaji Island. hyogo Prefecture has created eight different cycling courses that can be found on the Awaji Island Cycling Map, that run from an easy 20km run, to a 150km route that circles the entire island. Among cycling fans, it is becoming a highly-rated course along with the "Biwaichi" course around Lake Biwa.
This festival is held every October in Shirahama, Himeji, at the Matsubara Hachiman Shrine. See a soul-stirring religious ceremony featuring a parade of floats before the shrine and hall of worship, and the clashing together of festival floats. Last year a Thai TV station came to film the event, and a Hong Kong magazine also came to report on it. Interest about the festival from overseas is growing.
