Tanba Tachikui-yaki Pottery

Tanba Tachikuiyaki is considered one of the six oldest kilns in Japan.
The first piece is believed to have been made at the end of the Heian period.
Consisting mostly of tableware for daily use, the plain simpleness of an ash or iron glaze characterizes this pottery.
Along with Keri-rokuro which is a unique type of wheel rotated by the feet, this traditional art has been handed down until today.
