Osaka Ranma
Ranma are the carved lattice work panels between the door and ceiling in traditional Japanese houses, originally intended simply to allow the passage of light and air, for the past 300 years they have also been an ornamentation with elaborate carvings.
The effectiveness of ranma depends largely on a good design.
Once this is established, however, there still remains long hours of delicate carving.
