Noh
Nogaku Theatre is representative traditional performing arts of Japan.
Noh play consists of Noh drama, which centers on chanting and dancing to a story and a comic drama called Kyogen with spoken lines.
Both were developed from alternate performances on the same stage and had a large influence on the later artistic Bunraku puppet play and Kabuki drama.
In addition to beautiful facemasks and costumes, its distinctive form is artistically sophisticated as a performing art.
Almost all these artistic works are still performed in the same way as in the 14th century, when this style of drama was established.
This form of performing art traditionally preserved over 600 years is unparalleled in the history of drama throughout the world.
Nogaku Theatre is also called the oldest existing theatrical art in the world.
