Kyo Yuzen
There are two kinds of yuzen-zome textile dyeing, tegaki (hand drawing) and katazome (stencil dyeing).
The work of tegaki is divided into 26 processes, and is characterized by the use of glutinous rice paste to keep the various colors fast.
The process begins with an artisan squeezing rice paste out of a cylinder to draw lines on the cloth.
While maintaining an even thickness of the line, he manages to impart a feeling of movement and grace.
