Kyo Sensu, Kyo Uchiwa
A Sensu was used as a status symbol in aristocratic circles during the Heian period.
An Uchiwa was brought from Korea to Kyoto via Kishu-Yamato in the period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties (1337?1392).
Kyo Sensu and Uchiwa are both representative objects of Kyoto craftwork.
They are both utility articles yet have a charm as works of art as well.
