Ise Katagami
lse-Katagami, used in Yuzen-zome dyeing and also in dyeing designs and patterns of Komon and Yukata types of kimono, is made by chiseling patterns into fortified Japanese papers which have been pasted together with persimmon tannin.
There are four different kinds of chiseling techniques; Shima-bori, Tsuki-bori, Dogu-bori and Kiri-bori, and there are specialists for each technique.
