Historical property of ancient Kyoto
In Kyoto, which gained prosperity as the center of politics, economy and culture for over 1,200 years since it was relocated to Heian-kyo in 794, there still remain a large number of cultural heritages including temple and shrine building structures.
Designated are 17 cultural heritages from the Heian, Kamakura, Muromachi and Edo periods.
The characteristic style and design still remain in these structures and the gardens reflecting ancient times.
